Inside the Screw Air Compressor


Two meshing helical screws can be found inside the compressor element, these are known as rotors. The rotors turn in opposite directions to compress the air. The rotors have been specially designed to ensure optimal efficiency and performance. The two rotors consist of one ‘male’ rotor and one ‘female’ rotor.


Speed Optimisation


To minimise mechanical losses and volumetric losses, the speed of the rotors is optimised at a certain level. Mechanical losses can be due to heat at very high speed, while volumetric losses can be due to very slow speed. Our rotary air compressors are available as fixed speed or variable speed, to fit your compressed air needs and demands.


How It Works


The screw air compressor traps ambient air between two meshed rotors, as this trapped air moves through the rotors the volume is reduced. This increases the pressure and the result is high quality compressed air which can be used for a wide range of applications.  Power is required for the compression and is usually supplied by an electric motor.
